The Tantum Family would like to honor neurosurgeon Dr. Herbert Fuchs of Duke Children's Hospital. Dr Fuchs has always made us feel very safe & at ease about all of our daughters surgery's. Dr. Fuchs never made us feel like we needed a second opinion, or question his abilities to operate on our Zoe.
Dr. Fuchs has been very open with us in giving Zoe every chance and every option to better fit her. To show how IMPORTANT Dr. Fuchs is to our daughter and our family, in Jan 2010, Zoe showed signs of a malfunction and we took her to our local children's hospital and they sent her home twice refusing to tap her shunt to check for infection, so by the third time I called Dr.Fuchs and he told us to bring her down to Duke ASAP.
When we arrived 8hrs later, we gave him Zoe's week long symptoms and they tapped her shunt, to have found she had a very serious infection and he took her into surgery for her first of many external shunts, (3), to drain the infection first, then about 18 days later he placed her third permanent internal shunt.
Dr.Fuchs kept us very well informed and up to date with Zoe's progress and recovery. We have the up most trust and love for Dr.Fuchs and wouldn't have Zoe in anyone else's hands. We can't thank Dr.Fuchs enough for all he does for our daughter we are very blessed to have him in our lives for our daughters life.
Sincerely, The Tantum Family Greg, Christine, Zoe, Kacie, and Alexis
