Honoring: Dr. Veetai Li; Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo

I would love for my son Ryan Dolan's neurosurgeon to be recognized as a hero. My son was born prematurely at 26 weeks in Ft. Lauderdale Florida and was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus immediately. He was shunted a week after birth and come to find out that another shunt was needed in his 4th ventricle shortly after placement of the VP shunt. My son had numerous problems with the shunts in Florida and had to be revised 18 times before the age of two.

We decided that enough was enough and placed him on hospice. We decided to move back to Buffalo to be with family and the month we moved back Ryan's shunt failed again. Thank God for Dr. Li at Women and children's Hospital of Buffalo who took him into surgery to replace the shunts at that time and saved his life, Ryan did not have a problem with his shunts for 9 years but is starting to have problems again.

I thank Dr. Li for giving us 9 more years of Ryan's life with no problems, hopefully with Dr. Li being his Dr. we will get many more years to enjoy our precious child. Dr. Li is a miracle worker and "Hero" in my eyes.
