Honoring: Kathy Jo Kube, Social Studies Teacher at Waikoloa Elementary & Kris Kosa-Correia, Principal at Waikoloa Elementary & Intermediate School

I am writing to nominate Mrs. Kathy Jo Kube and Mrs. Kris Kosa Correia on behalf of my family because of their constant care and compassion that was shown through our recent ordeal of Christian having shunt failure. They helped to rally staff members, and student’s in creating cards and monetary support “Coins for Christian” while my sister remained at his bedside at Tripler Army Medical Center & Kapiolani Hospital. His latest setback with shunt failure kept him on the island of Oahu for about a month. When I visited him it meant the world to him that his classmates, teacher, and Principal cared so much for him. I know it did a lot for him with his recovery everytime someone came that was affiliated with the school.

Mrs. Kube (Christian’s Social Studies Teacher) has truly inspired Christian as he can’t wait to get back to her class. She has made a tremendous difference in his education and he truly feels a sense of belonging.

Mrs. Kris Kosa-Correia ( Principal) extended her support to our family throughout this whole ordeal. She had extended the use of her miles for flights to and from the islands if the family wanted to be by Christian’s side. It is her outstanding leadership that fosters her staff to carry out the compassion for student’s and families of the Waikoloa Community.

We hope you will consider both of them to be Heroes of Hydrocephalus as it meant the world to us to see Christian smile whenever he received the little and simply things made by the children, and the financial support for my sister to remain at his bedside. It was truly a godsend of their compassion in action.
