The PHF raised over $50,000 in 2010, thanks in large part to some very successful WALK/Family Fun Day events in New Jersey and New York, in addition to Spaghetti Dinners in Rhode Island and New Jersey.

The PHF in 2010 received donations from over 500 people representing over 25 States.

Any donations and grants made from the PHF must meet certain criteria before approval. The most important of which, is that the money is to be used specifically for Hydrocephalus research, or to help individuals with Hydrocephalus.

In 2010, the PHF made the following donations and approved funding for the following grants for Hydrocephalus Research.

    Grants:

$17,500.00 Children’s Hospital Boston- Dr. Joseph Madsen

$5,000.00 As part of our ‘Heroes of Hydrocephalus’ project, (and thanks to the families who nominated them), the following ten Neurosurgeons/Hospitals were awarded $500.00 donations to be used in some way for children with Hydrocephalus:

Dr. Herbert Fuchs of Duke Children’s Hospital
Dr. Avinash Mohan of Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital

Thank you for your generous donations and support in 2010. YOU made this possible, and so much more yet to come, by your continued support of the Pediatric Hydrocephalus Foundation, Inc.

    PHF GOES TO WASHINGTON!

The most exciting news coming out of D.C. in 2010 for the Hydrocephalus Community is the creation, for the first time ever, of a Congressional Committee dedicated to Hydrocephalus.

The Pediatric & Adult Hydrocephalus Congressional Caucus will be officially announced during the first couple of weeks of the New Year.

Inspired by the PHF’s National Director of Advocacy, Michael Illions, the newly formed Congressional Committee will be Chaired by the Illions’ family hometown Congressman, Leonard Lance & Minnesota Congressman Tim Walz.

…… Stay tuned for more information!

This past September, the Hydrocephalus Community celebrated the 2nd annual National Hydrocephalus Awareness Month in the United States, which was passed in July of 2009, (H. Res. 373).

In Woodbridge, New Jersey, hometown of the PHF, over 90 people witnessed the raising of a PHF Hydrocephalus Awareness flag at Town Hall.

The PHF is proud and honored to have been the architect of this continuing Resolution and have a month dedicated to Hydrocephalus Awareness in the United States.
